candidate Dhanendra Sahu had come in second place. In 2014's General Elections, Mahasamund constituency was won by BJP candidate Chandu Lal Sahu (Chandu Bhaiya) and Congress candidate

Ajit Jogi was the runner-up. Assembly seats that fall under Mahasamund parliamentary constituency include Saraipali, Basna, Mahasamund, Rajim, Bindranawagarh, Kurud, Dhamtari, Khallari.
