The Virks are an ordinary, devout, Sikh immigrant family. And today, they say they are struggling to find answers after their son and brother Vikram Singh Virk has been arrested and charged
of murdering his friend in a shocking game of Russian roulette that went horribly wrong. “We don’t know what happened. We don’t know what is going to happen,” said Sabina Virk, the sister of
the 27-year-old Dallas man, who is being held on a $150,000 bond. He is charged with manslaughter. She told this reporter that the family is not making any statements as they do not know
how the events unfolded – but she did speak briefly to a well wisher Amarjeet Kaur, who called her from Gurudwara Sahib of Houston and offered support. > We ask that everyone pray for us.
We ask that everyone, as many of > you as possible, pray to God. That is all we ask. > – SABINA VIRK TO AMARPREET KAUR WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED? Homicide investigators declined comment
but released the arrest affidavit that details the incident. In the document, police say that Virk, 27, met his friend Jaskaran Singh, 18, in the former’s car at the parking lot of Red Roof
Inn. And they played Russian roulette with a gun. Virk allegedly handed Singh a handgun that he believed he had emptied. Singh then pulled the trigger twice while pointing it at Virk,
according to police. > The suspect then took the gun and pointed it at (Singh) and pulled > the trigger one time and the gun did not fire. The suspect then > pulled the trigger a
second time and the gun fired, striking the > complainant in the left temple. > –DETECTIVE, VIRK’S ARREST AFFIDAVIT Virk rushed Singh to the Methodist Richardson Memorial Hospital
where Singh later died. Hospital staff took the handgun from the passenger side of Virk’s car and gave it to the police. At first, Virk denied he had shot Singh, saying the wound was self
inflicted, but later broke down under questioning and confessed. Russian roulette is a potentially lethal game in which a player places a single round in a revolver, spins the chamber,
places the muzzle against his or her head and pulls the trigger. Court records show that Virk does not have an attorney and has been in jail for three days now. The court will appoint an
attorney for him soon, authorities say. Meanwhile, there are only questions and no answers. Published: 19 Jun 2015, 7:58 AM IST
