BRITISH TODDLER SAVES MOTHER WITH 911 CALL A British toddler is being hailed as a hero for dialing 999 after his mother collapsed from a blood clot. Riley Ward called paramedics after his
27-year-old mother, Dana Henry, passed out in their home. First responders rushed Henry to the hospital, and after she underwent emergency surgery, a doctor informed her that she would have
done “very poorly” without rapid treatment. “We knew he remembered 999,” Henry said of her 2-year-old, “but were so shocked that he was able to put it into action.” Ward is believed to be
the youngest person ever to successfully call U.K. emergency services. “BURGER KING BABY” REUNITES WITH BIRTH MOTHER SUBSCRIBE TO THE WEEK Escape your echo chamber. Get the facts behind the

Pennsylvania woman known as the “Burger King baby” has found her birth mother, calling their reunion “pure joy.” Katheryn Deprill was just a newborn in 1986 when her mother left her in a
Burger King bathroom in Allentown, Pa. Deprill’s tale went viral after she posted her story on Facebook, pleading for help in finding the woman who had left her behind. The post found its
way to her mother, who contacted Deprill’s attorney to arrange a meeting. “She left me somewhere she knew I’d be found,” Deprill said. “She did not want to throw me away.” SOCCER PLAYER
SAVES MEMBER OF RIVAL TEAM It was a close call for Dynamo Kiev captain Oleh Husyev this week after the Ukrainian soccer player was knocked unconscious during a match against Dnipro
Dnipropetrovsk. Husyev was out cold after colliding with the Dnipro goalkeeper during the first half of the Ukrainian Premier League match. But Dnipro midfielder Jaba Kankava quickly came to
the rescue, pulling open Husyev’s mouth and dislodging his tongue, which had become stuck in his throat and threatened to choke the 30-year-old to death. “One thing I can say for sure,”
said Mykhailo Radutskyi, president of the clinic where Husyev is being treated, “the Dnipro player saved Oleh’s life.” A free daily email with the biggest news stories of the day – and the
