The Illinois governor's seat has flipped blue, with Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner conceding to Democrat J.B. Pritzker, the _Chicago Tribune_ reports. Pritzker secured 62 percent of the
vote to Rauner's 32.7 percent with 30.6 percent of precincts reporting, per _Politico_. The incumbent conceded in a phone call less than an hour after polls closed, and told his
campaign party that "this is a time for us to unite," per the _Tribune._ Rauner was running for a second term against the billionaire Democrat and heir to the Hyatt hotel chain.
Pritzker will become the wealthiest governor in U.S. history, Fox News says. Rauner was also independently wealthy and only accepted a $1 salary. SUBSCRIBE TO THE WEEK Escape your echo
