Claire TyrrellThe West Australian A fire has caused extensive damage to a heritage listed cottage at a Lesmurdie school this morning. Firefighters were called to St Brigids College on
Lesmurdie Road just after 7am and arrived to the old cottage engulfed in flames. No-one was inside the building at the time of the fire and the cottage was being used to store school desks
and chairs before the blaze. Welshpool Station Officer Matt Folini said there was no ignition point, which led firefighters to believe the fire was deliberately lit. "We will deem it as
deliberate," he said. Mr Folini said it took 12 firefighters about 30 minutes to extinguish the blaze. Damage is estimated at $300,000. The school recently gained approval to refurbish
the cottage back to its original form. Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. LATEST ALLEGED ASSAULT ON UMPIRE DRONE SPOTTED NEAR DOMAIN STADIUM BOOM NOT OVER:
