Kalgoorlie Miner Goldfields rugby union remains the benchmark competition outside Perth, but under vastly different circumstances in the wake of last weekend's annual WA country
carnival. After Goldfields teams dominated the 2013 series in Perth, Saturday's program at the Goldfields Oasis playing fields had been viewed as an opportunity to showcase the domestic
game to the rest of the State. Instead, South West, Esperance, Katanning and Geraldton shunned the series and teams from the WA Police and WA Firefighters were also unavailable to make the
trip. It left the carnival as an all- Goldfields affair, with Bushwackers grabbing the title after defeating defending champions Island Barbarians in the final, 38-12. Nevin Ruatara was
player of the final. Details: * Field 1: Island Barbarians d Stormers 13-3; Stormers d Boulder WASM 15-0; Island Barbarians d Boulder WASM 19-12. Field 2: Bushwackers d Boulder WASM 14-0;
