DANIEL MERCERThe West Australian Police are investigating two separate attempted muggings in Mirrabooka overnight. In one incident, a 23-year-old man had a lucky escape when his dog attacked

one of his would-be robbers. The man had been walking the dog in parkland near Boyare Primary School about 6.30pm when he was confronted by three men. One of the muggers threatened him with

a knife and demanded money, before the man's dog lunged at the offender. A police spokeswoman said the would-be thief suffered bite wounds to his leg before he and his two co-offenders

fled the scene. In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old man suffered cuts to his head after he was attacked by two men on Oakleaf Circle shortly after 10.30pm. He had been walking towards

Twining Place as he talked on his mobile phone when the two men approached him and demanded the device. When the man refused, one of the attackers repeatedly struck him over head with what

appeared to be a rock, leaving him with cuts. The police spokeswoman said the man was able to escape without handing over any of his property. The first offender is described as fair

skinned, about 185cm tall, 15 to 19 years old and wearing a red top. Police have described the second offender as dark skinned, about 160cm tall, 15 to 19 years old and wearing a black

jacket. GET THE LATEST NEWS FROM THEWEST.COM.AU IN YOUR INBOX. Sign up for our emails
