Luke EliotThe West Australian The devastated family of teenage car crash victim Emma Ball have described her as an "amazing shining star". The 16-year-old Wagin District High

School student was one of five friends who had travelled to Puntaping Rock on Saturday. Driving back to Wagin, the 17-year-old P-plate driver lost control of the car, skidded on gravel and

crashed into a tree. The death has shaken the Great Southern community, with students at Emma's high school wearing her favourite shades of blue and turquoise on Monday as a tribute.

"Emma was an amazing shining star and her family and friends are completely devastated," her sister Ashlee Cook said yesterday. "Emma was a very talented girl who was

interested in art, photography, music and design. "She had a bright future." Her family described her as a popular girl who was well known in the community. She was a talented

designer who dreamt of a career in the fashion industry and once took six months to make a dress from old newspapers. On Monday, Emma's mother Vicki Ball said the crash was a reminder

that life could change in an instant. Notices placed in yesterday's newspaper also reveal the family's heartbreak at Emma's death. "You were the bright pink ribbon that

tied all of us together," Emma's parents wrote. "You brought us so much joy little darling. So perfect in every way, no wonder the angels came to get you so soon." Police

are still investigating the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. GET THE LATEST NEWS FROM THEWEST.COM.AU IN YOUR INBOX. Sign up for our emails
