The West Australian League champion Perth SC booked their place in the final of The West Australian Top Four Cup with a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Inglewood United at Dorrien

Gardens. Perth skipper Clark Keltie had given his side the lead but the major semi-final was sent to extra-time when Brian Woodall scored a late equaliser. Inglewood’s hopes of gaining

revenge on Perth, who had beaten them to the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues WA title on the last day of the season, were snuffed out on penalties after neither side could add to the

score in extra-time. Inglewood will get a second chance to reach the final when they take on ECU Joondalup in a midweek preliminary final after the northern suburbs club won a thrilling

minor semi-final against Floreat Athena. Joondalup trailed Athena 2-0 to goals from Jonathan Stynes and Cameron Yorke at half-time but had pulled it back to 3-3 after 90 minutes before Daryl

Nicol grabbed an extra-time winner in an incredible 5-4 victory. Paddy Doyle, Andy Higgins, Shane Pickering and Michael McDougal had also been on target for ECU, while Lewis McMahon and

Stynes’ second goal of the day completed the scoring for Floreat. Meanwhile, Mandurah City have moved one step closer to promotion from the All Flags State League First Division after a 2-1

win over nearest rival Joondalup United at Kelly’s Hot Water Stadium. Jordan Rhodes’ first-half penalty gave Mandurah the lead at the break and he doubled the advantage five minutes into the

second period. James Harmer kept his nerve to slot home for Joondalup in the 75th minute but the visitors’ cause was not helped with the late dismissal of Josh Whitmore for a second

bookable offence. Mandurah, who are now three points ahead of Joondalup with two games to play, are on course for promotion to the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues WA. City travel to

Ashfield next week before a final-day match against local rivals Rockingham City. Joondalup are at home to UWA-Nedlands and finish their season away to Western Knights. GET THE LATEST NEWS
