The Crestwood boys basketball game on Monday night against Hanover Area was postponed due to a COVID-19 issue. Crestwood superintendent Robert Mehalick posted the following on the school’s
Facebook page: “This evening’s Senior High Boys Basketball game against Hanover is canceled due to our team having a positive exposure to COVID-19. The team will quarantine for 10 days and
all practices and games during that time will be postponed.” Crestwood opened its season Saturday at Dallas. The shutdown means the Comets will miss four additional games — Tuesday at
Williamsport, Friday at Hazleton Area, Jan. 19 at Pittston Area and Jan. 22 vs. Tunkhannock. The earliest Crestwood would be able to restart would be Jan. 21 under a 10-day quarantine.
However, the PIAA requires any sports team which unable to practice for more than seven consecutive calendar days to have two practices before resuming competition. That would make Jan. 23
the first day the Comets could play a game. The Danville at Holy Redeemer boys game scheduled for Monday was also postponed. GIRLS BASKETBALL LAKE-LEHMAN 44, BERWICK 33 Claire Dougherty led
the way with a team-high 16 points and Marissa Brdaric added 10 to pace the Black Knights. Berwick struggled in the first half, shooting just 3-of-26. The Bulldogs fought back into the game
with an 18-point third quarter, fueled by Katie Starr who scored seven of her game-high 18 points in the frame. She also finished with 16 boards to secure the double-double. HAZLETON AREA
58, NANTICOKE AREA 42 Brooke Borestski scored 18 points for the Cougars in a win over the Trojans. Jaya Franek added 10 and Lacie Kringe scored nine. Nanticoke Area was led by Lauren Casey,
who scored 20 points. Riley Baird also made three three-pointers to finish with nine points. WILKES-BARRE AREA 68, HANOVER AREA 10 Gloria Adjayo led the Wolfpack with 16 points and Vanessa
Luna scored 10. The Wolfpack had 13 different players score at least two points while blanking the Hawkeyes in the second quarter. Hannah Salwoski was the top scorer for the Hawkeyes,
knocking down two three-pointers for six points. RIVERSIDE 68, WYOMING AREA 20 Kylie Lavelle scored 30 points for Riverside and Kayla Rose and Emily Taylor added 11 and 10, respectively.
Morgan Janeski topped the Warriors with nine points. GIRLS BASKETBALL LAKE-LEHMAN 44, BERWICK 33 LAKE-LEHMAN (44) — Claire Dougherty 5 3-5 16, Marissa Brdaric 3 3-4 10, Brenna Hunt 2 1-2 6,
