flight on Saturday morning took out life vests from under their seats and inflated them to be ready for a water landing! This scare was triggered when an Airbus A-319 leased by SpiceJet from

a Czech company had a hydraulic failure soon after take off from Mumbai with 141 passengers on board. "While the plane was making a turnback to land in Mumbai, the cabin crew

reportedly gave a demonstration of how to use life jackets. This led to passengers getting scared as the plane was over the sea at that time. Many of them assumed the worst, took out life

jackets and inflated them," said a source. The DGCA is now investigating whether the pilot made some announcement that led the crew to give a demo for using life jackets which are to be

used as flotation devices in case of a water landing. All the crew on this plane were foreign. In case of a water landing, passengers are supposed to inflate these jackets before jumping in

water by exiting from aircraft either from a door or the over wing wing exit. The regulator has asked the airline to tell it exactly what the pilot announced and is trying to determine the

exact sequence of events that led to this situation. The safety instructions are given on ground when the plane is about to begin taxiing for take off.
