A Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) nurse practitioner was recognized as Most Inspirational Mentor at the Tucson Nurses Week Foundation (TNWF) Gala, May 10. The TNWF annually

awards nurses for excellence in nursing, and the Most Inspirational Mentor of the Year is the highest honor.  This esteemed award promotes the growth and support of professional nurses in

our community, and it recognizes a member of the Tucson nursing community who demonstrates significant leadership and ability to be a role model, coach, motivator, advocate, teacher, and

visionary.  Dr. Juliana Hall, DNP, APRN, ANP-BC, SAVAHCS Polytrauma/TBI Program Manager, was recognized for clinical excellence, creating policies and professional development opportunities

for nurses, and for being an advocate for advanced practice nurses at local and national levels. “Whether it is leading a national NP specialty interest group, developing clinical care

models, authoring practice guidelines, educating the workforce, or influencing regulation and national nursing standards, I am committed to leading nurses to elevated positions of influence

and greater visibility, while building community partnerships to enhance patient care,” said Dr. Hall. The Veteran patient is the focus of everything that she does at the SAVAHCS. “Our

patients are at the center of everything we do,” said Dr. Hall. “It is a privilege to provide exceptional care for those we serve, and for me, practicing in the VHA for the last 28 years as

a nurse practitioner has been an honor.” Dr. Hall currently treats Veterans with Polytrauma and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) at the Polytrauma Clinic at the Tucson VA Medical Center. “Every

day, I see that we are making a difference in our patients’ lives, helping them to heal and function to their fullest potential,” said Dr. Hall. She emphasized that all nurses provide

high-quality, evidence-based, and compassionate care with sustained patient outcomes, and close gaps in care. Nurses are providers, educators, innovators, administrators, and researchers.

She will continue to guide and encourage nurses to achieve their goals. “I am truly grateful for this award and am humbled to be in the company of such accomplished nurses. I am inspired by

the tireless work of my nursing colleagues to promote excellence in practice. I will continue to work to create pathways to strengthen our collective voice and empower nurses to be

innovators in healthcare,” said Dr. Hall. If you are a nursing professional and are interested in making a lasting difference in the lives of Veterans, please visit
