FATHER BROWN IS BACK ON THE BBC WITH ITS 12TH SEASON AND THE COMEDY-DRAMA HAS FEATURED PLENTY OF STARS OVER THE YEARS - BUT SOME HAVE LEFT THE SHOW, SUCH AS SORCHA CUSACK KATIE PALMER 10:33,
10 Jan 2025 The beloved BBC series Father Brown has returned for its 12th season, and over the years, it has seen a host of stars grace the screen. Sorcha Cusack, who portrayed Bridgette
McCarthy, Father Brown's church secretary at St Mary's, was among the cast members who departed before the show's 10th season, alongside Emer Kenny and Jack Deam. The absence
of these actors was highlighted when a new publicity photo for the upcoming series was released. Sorcha Cusack, the Irish actress known for her role in the show, left along with other cast
members prior to season 10. This was confirmed when a promotional image for the forthcoming season was circulated without their presence. John Burton, the actor behind Sergeant Goodfellow,
took to social media to shed light on the reasons behind the cast changes. On Twitter, he remarked: "Occasionally long running shows need to be refreshed due to artists'
availability." READ MORE: Father Brown star Mark Williams' life including 'tricky' Harry Potter momentREAD MORE: Dancing On Ice's Colin Grafton opens up about
'tough week' after The Vivienne's death He further elaborated on the situation by tweeting: "So it means we do have some absentees this year, with a few long-term artists
moving onto other projects for their own career progression. This is part of an actor's life, and we must go where the work takes us. Article continues below "Yes, there are some
changes - but they are brilliant changes, and I truly believe you will absolutely love the new/returning characters. For the moment, we have said goodbye to a few characters who have been
brilliant to work with over the years." These statements suggest that Sorcha's departure from Father Brown was a decision made in pursuit of new opportunities, reports the Express.
John's comments also seem to imply that while Sorcha has exited the series, there might be a chance for her character to return in the future. To date, Sorcha , aged 75, has not
publicly commented on her departure from Father Brown. Sorcha hails from a renowned family in the acting world; she is the daughter of celebrated actors Cyril and Maureen Cusack, and
continues to be active in her acting career. Sinead and Niamh, sisters to the prominent Cusack family name alongside their half-sister Catherine Cusack, are also in the acting sphere. The
2020 episode of Father Brown titled 'The Numbers of the Beast' saw Niamh portraying Mrs McCarthy's sister Roisin. Moreover, she proudly holds the title of being an aunt to
Call the Midwife star Meghan Cusack, famed for her role as Nancy Corrigan. Father Brown viewers took to Reddit to vent their feelings when she departed from the show, with Cindy-Marie
commenting: "I don't know why, but she is irreplaceable, and season 10 proved it." Article continues below Adding to the sentiment, SkipMapudding remarked: "Not the same
without her. Show feels so different. Sorcha was in the first series of Dalgleish which is another show I love."
