A RETIRED COUPLE WATCHED IN HORROR ON CCTV AS THEIR NEIGHBOURS 'LAND-GRABBED' THEIR GARDEN WHILE THEY WERE ON HOLIDAY IN AUSTRALIA 10:35, 20 Feb 2025 A retired couple were left
helpless as they watched live footage of their neighbours tear their garden apart, while they were on holiday in Australia. Rosa Bell, 67, and her husband Murray, 72, witnessed builders
dismantle their boundary fence, uproot their patio, and demolish their shed. The couple were enjoying a well-deserved holiday in Australia—seeing their daughter for the first time since
before the pandemic—when the incident unfolded back in Surrey. The Bells have been locked in a stiff boundary dispute with their neighbours, named in court documents as Huy Eng Myers and
Michael Myers, who have allegedly claimed up to 1.2 meters of the Bells' garden. Despite efforts to resolve the issue, both the council and police declined to intervene, leaving Rosa to
seek justice through civil court. Conflicting surveys, stemming from 'crude' 1930s drawings that date back to before the actual construction of the houses, have made determining
the exact boundary challenging. With Rosa's attempt at claiming damages unsuccessful, and no definitive legal decision regarding ownership has been reached, she shared: "It is such
a stressful situation. We both retired and bought this lovely house that was going to be our forever home. But these people have just taken the law into their own hands. This is a living
hell." Rosa and Murray experienced a homeowner's nightmare when they discovered, while holidaying in Australia in December 2022, that builders had begun altering their garden back
in Epsom Downs. The couple, who purchased the detached three-bedroom 1950s property for £670,000 in 2019, were shocked to see via their home CCTV footage that their fence had been
dismantled, a maple tree felled, and apple tree branches pruned by a man on camera, all while a new boundary fence was erected by their neighbours in their absence. Article continues below
After restoring their fence to its original position four months later, the Bells found themselves in the same predicament when they went on holiday again the following June; once more,
their fence was removed, and unauthorised work was carried out in their garden. Rosa recalled the distressing events: "We saw everything they were doing on camera when we were on the
other side of the world.", reports the Daily Star. She added, "One day they would do one thing, then they would do something else. It was like they were teasing us knowing we were
so far away." Legal documents assert that the original fence was "accepted by both parties to be the legal boundary". _FOR OUR FREE DAILY BRIEFING ON THE BIGGEST ISSUES FACING

'harassment' and underscored that they had 'won a court' ruling regarding the claim for damages.
