The latest search into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann has gotten underway in Portugal today. Search teams have been seen draining a well and clearing areas of dense vegetation around

abandoned buildings as they conduct a land search in a countryside area in the Algarve. The search is going on in a rural area, a few miles outside of Praia da Luz, the holiday resort where

the three-old went missing in 2007. Although journalists are being kept away and police have imposed a no-fly zone around the search, reporters nearby could see teams using strimmers,

pick-axes, shovels and chainsaws to clear the undergrowth and debris surrounding an abandoned building. They could also see firefighters and police using a hose to drain a well. _Don’t miss

a court report by signing up__ __to our crime newsletter here_. Yesterday, police were seen closing dirt roads and erecting tents near Christian Brueckner's former address. Brueckner is

the main suspect in the disappearance of the three-year-old and is currently in a German prison for a separate crime, due to be released in September this year.
