MANY OFFICE WORKERS HAVE ADMITTED TO 'BARELY EVER' WASHING THEIR HANDS WHILE EVEN MORE 'ONLY GIVE THEM A RINSE' AFTER GOING TO THE TOILET 11:10, 28 Nov 2023 A new study
has revealed a shockingly low amount of people wash their hands throughout the day, while some admit to never washing them. The findings are thanks to Cleanology, a London-based commercial
cleaning firm, which asked UK office workers about their handwashing habits. An alarming 13 per cent of office workers in Britain confess to washing their hands 'only' after using
the toilet for a 'number two'. Worryingly, another three per cent of admit they 'rarely ever' wash their hands, claiming they 'don't see the need to do
so.' Although these percentages might appear small, when applied to the entire working population of the UK, which stands at 32.8 million, it reveals a troubling amount. It equates to
more than 984,000 individuals potentially spreading germs in shared workspaces due to inadequate hand hygiene after using the bathroom. This is even off the back of a global pandemic in
which one of the key messages to stop the spread of the virus was 'wash your hands'. Office workers are reportedly washing their hands 50 per cent less than recommended. Experts
advise washing our hands six to 10 times per day to effectively combat bacteria and viruses. However, according to the Cleanology survey, 39 per cent of office workers in the UK wash their
hands just three to five times. The office isn't the only place where hygiene is lacking. During the summer, a study found that festivalgoers were perhaps the worst for not washing
their hands. Over 20 per cent of adults between 18 and 24 years old said that they do not wash their hands at festivals at all. Meanwhile, only 26 per cent wash their hands once a day.

According to the NHS, you should wash your hands with soap thoroughly for about 20 seconds. This is considered effective for removing germs, including viruses and bacteria.
