A street connecting two busy north Charlotte roads in NODA will remain closed at least through October 31. The once busy 36th St. between North Davidson and North Tryon was closed four years
ago as the LYNX Blue Line extension was being built through the NoDa area. The street was originally expected to re-open by the fall of 2016 but the deadline has been continuously pushed
back. Even though the light rail has been open for months, there’s still paving and sidewalk work remaining and some gas lines have yet to be connected and tested. CATS says the latest delay
is tied to Hurricane Florence, since local utilities were sent to the eastern part of the state to help with recovery. CATS says the ongoing delays are due to the Norfolk Southern tracks
next to the light rail tracks. The tracks had to be relocated to allow car and foot traffic on 36th Street to flow underneath the bridge.
