THE PREMIER LEAGUE DARTS SEASON WILL CONCLUDE TONIGHT WITH FINALS NIGHT AT LONDON'S O2 ARENA, WHERE LUKE LITTLER WILL BID TO DEFEND HIS TITLE 10:31, 29 May 2025 The much-anticipated
Premier League Darts Finals Night is here, with teenage prodigy Luke Littler set to defend his title at London's O2 Arena tonight. Last year, the 18-year-old clinched the Premier League
Darts title after being selected as one of four wildcards following his surprising performance at the 2024 World Darts Championship. In his debut campaign, Littler triumphed on four nights
before besting Michael Smith in the semi-finals and securing the title with an 11-7 victory over Luke Humphries. 'The Nuke', as he is known, is the current world champion and this
year's UK Open winner, which puts him second in the PDC Order of Merit. However, he faces a stiff challenge to hold onto his Premier League title on Thursday evening, with Gerwyn Price,
Nathan Aspinall and Humphries also vying for the play-offs. Littler led the regular season standings with 45 points, winning six out of the 16 weekly events, and will go head-to-head with
fourth-placed Price in the semi-finals. The victor of their match will face either Aspinall or Humphries in the final, battling it out for the Premier League trophy and the top prize money.
The Premier League season boasts a total prize pot of £1million. The player who comes out on top in the play-offs will pocket £275k, reports the Mirror. The runner-up will receive £125k for
their efforts, while the losing semi-finalists will each take home £85k. The remaining four players in the eight-man league earned between £60k and £75k, with the money increasing by £5k
increments depending on their final league position. Littler has notched an additional £60k to his earnings, thanks to the £10k bonus for weekly wins during the regular season. The PDC Order
of Merit reveals that the 18 year old has accrued £1.3m from ranked tournaments, positioning him £573k behind world number one Humphries. Not included in this figure are Littler's
takings from non-ranked events such as Premier League Darts, nor does it account for sponsorship income. Yet Littler is zeroing in on the chance to become a two-time Premier League champion,
a feat unparalleled by the other three play-off contenders who have each graced the final but not clinched victory. Should he triumph, Littler would join the esteemed ranks of double
Premier League champions like Gary Anderson, Phil Taylor, and Michael van Gerwen, though he has some distance to cover to match Van Gerwen's impressive seven titles. After rounding off
the regular season with a win in Sheffield, where he bested Humphries in the final, Littler's six nightly wins exceeded the former record of four and contributed to his record-breaking
points total. Reacting to his success in Sheffield via Instagram, Littler posted: "Got the record, got top spot. O2 lets get it done." Article continues below Humphries, on the
other hand, was already eyeing the championship trophy before their latest clash. Humphries, reflecting on his recent form, said: "You know you have to raise your game against
Luke," and added, "Winning in Leeds last week will give me great confidence, but the goal now is to be Premier League champion. Whatever happens in the next two weeks, that's
my focus."
