Council bosses are to use a novel tactic to help stop dog fouling across Nuneaton and Bedworth. As of next week, environmental health team officers will be patrolling what have been billed
as the two worst dog fouling hotspot areas in the borough. They will spray a bright circle around dog waste they find before picking it up. These areas will then be patrolled again later the
following week, and any further dog fouling found will be sprayed a different colour and picked up. READ MORE: COUNCIL'S SHOCK U-TURN ON REVEALING NUNEATON HAMPTON-BY-HILTON HOTEL

irresponsible dog owners who they say fail to clear up after their dog. As well as seeing the brightly sprayed circles, locals can also expect to see posters and litter bins stickered with
anti-dog fouling graphics. Councillor Tony Venson, cabinet member for planning and enforcement, explained: "It is only a small number of irresponsible dog owners who decide not to clean
up behind their dogs. "We want them to realise just what they are leaving behind in their community by visually highlighting it to them on the streets." While out on their
patrols, officers will be also be giving those that they see picking up behind their dogs a ticket to enter them into a prize draw where they could win a treat for their pet up to the value
of £25. "We hope that this, along with the prize draw, and handing out free dog waste bags, will give those that don’t bag it up, the incentive to start, and those that already do, the
chance to be rewarded for their actions," Cllr Venson said. "We also want to encourage the use of any litter bins for dog waste, you don’t need to use the ones exclusively
allocated for it."
