An emotional guest on Antiques Roadshow was seen wiping away tears as she shared a harrowing story from the 1980s about her late mother's diamond ring. The woman presented the stunning
piece to expert Sarah Churgin at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Arkansas, and began her tale by saying: "My daddy bought this ring for my mum after she fell into the
Arkansas River off of our houseboat" She continued: "The Delta Queen was docking at the Island Harbour Marina in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. And we were docking our houseboat and mama
fell in and she couldn't swim and the undercurrent pulled her under and she didn't come back up. And so we were all panicking and we thought she was drowning." Thankfully, the
story had a happy ending as she added: "And finally, daddy and my brothers jumped in and I jumped in and we found her and we pulled her back up. And daddy was so upset, he sold the
houseboat the next day and bought this ring for my mother. We always used to kid her saying 'Mama, you're wearing our houseboat.' We were just glad to have our mother safe and
sound, you know?" READ MORE: ITV BIRDS OF A FEATHER'S LESLEY JOSEPH REVEALS FEAR OVER HEALTH AS SHE TALKS SHOW RETURN The guest also revealed that her father had purchased the
ring from a friend for $5,000 (£4,004). "My mum, she enjoyed this ring so much. She would take it to her little luncheons and wear it and just, you know, 'la dee da", the
guest reminisced. "She wanted me to have it and she wanted to pass it down to my daughter." The guest on Antiques Roadshow was visibly moved as she recounted the sentimental value
of her mother's ring, saying: "Mama had passed away about 20 years ago and I've been wearing it ever since." Tears welled up as she added: "I know my mother is
smiling down from Heaven. Just means so much to me that this ring is on this show today.", reports the Express. Expert Churgin then described the piece in detail: "It's really
a spectacular and comfortable piece of jewellery. It's platinum, from the 1950s, it's probably made right here in America. "It's a beautifully made mounting with round,
brilliant cut stones that graduate. The stone in the centre is a very clean, brilliant cut diamond, almost 3.5 carats", prompting the owner to react with a surprised: "Wow."
Churgin went on to reveal that the ring boasted a total carat weight of over five carats and concluded with its valuation: "A retail value today for this ring is in the range of $60,000
to $70,000." The guest, astonished by the appraisal, exclaimed: "Geeze-o-Pete-o! Oh wow! Man", and humorously remarked: "I better get some insurance on it."
