got six eye-popping new posters. Lin-Manuel, 41, made his Broadway debut with the stage show in 2008 years before he became an international sensation with Hamilton. One of the posters pays
tribute to the history of movie musicals by showing a swimming pool dance number choreographed in the Busby Berkeley style. All of the dancers were linking hands in a kaleidoscopic
arrangement that was reminiscent of the 'Human Waterfall' sequence in Busby's 1933 film Footlight Parade. The musical is a tribute to the Washington Heights neighborhood of
Manhattan and a few of the posters pay tribute to the setting as well. One shows a huge production number breaking out in the streets and another offers a glimpse of the George Washington
Bridge in the background. Directed by Jon M. Chu of Crazy Rich Asians fame the new In The Heights movie will appear in theaters and on HBO Max on June 18. Lin-Manuel not only led the
original production of In The Heights but also wrote the music and lyrics, with a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, who wrote the film. The original show, which won best musical and best score
at the Tonys, is a slice-of-life show about a Hispanic community in Washington Heights. Anthony Ramos stars in the movie as Usnavi de la Vega, the role Lin-Manuel played on Broadway in the
original 2008 cast. The two men have a long connection as Anthony played Lin-Manuel's son in the original Broadway cast of Hamilton. Telenovela star Melissa Barrera plays Usnavi's
love interest Vanessa, with Leslie Grace as Nina, who is hiding from her parents that she dropped out of Stanford. Corey Hawkins, who played Heath on The Walking Dead and Dr. Dre in
Straight Outta Compton, stars as Nina's forbidden love Benny. The movie's star-studded cast includes Orange Is The New Black alum Dasha Polanco and Brooklyn Nine-Nine actress
Stephanie Beatriz. In The Heights began Lin-Manuel's fusion of hip-hop and Broadway, a combination that made him a massive celebrity with Hamilton. Although the movie was originally
slated for release on June 26 last year it had to be postponed on account of the coronavirus pandemic. Lin-Manuel MirandaHBO
