TARA SMITHSON, THE FOOD BLOGGER BEHIND SIMPLY MADE EATS, HAS SHARED A SIMPLE TWIST THAT TURNS THE HUMBLE ROOT VEG INTO SOMETHING SPECTACULAR, AND IT'S ACTUALLY VERY SIMPLE 10:25, 29 May
2025Updated 10:25, 29 May 2025 Roasted carrots are a staple side dish, but food blogger Tara Smithson from Simply Made Eats has a pantry secret that elevates them to new heights. Her Brown
Sugar Honey-Glazed Carrots are oven-roasted and enveloped in a sweet, buttery glaze that caramelises to perfection. The result is a sticky, tender, golden delight that's irresistibly
moreish. "These Brown Sugar Honey Glazed Carrots are oven-roasted to perfection," Tara said. "The sweet glaze enhances the natural sugars in the carrots, and it is hands down
delicious." The recipe involves whole carrots, peeled and diagonally sliced, tossed in a concoction of melted butter, honey, olive oil, sea salt, and the key ingredient – brown sugar.
Spread out on a baking tray, the carrots are roasted at 400°F (205°C) until they soften and the glaze becomes glossy and caramelised. Halfway through, the carrots are turned over for an even
glaze and browning, reports the Express. Not only does the dish boast incredible flavour, but its simplicity is also a winner. With just ten minutes of prep time, the oven does the rest of
the work. Article continues below Originally created as a festive side, Smithson reveals the recipe has now become a year-round favourite in her household. Roasted carrots have been given a
new lease of life with this recipe, which strikes the perfect balance between sweetness and richness, with just a touch of salt to elevate the humble vegetable. Once they've cooled down
a bit and been sprinkled with parsley, these shiny, golden carrots are ready to be dished up, making an ideal accompaniment to roast meats, stuffing, or even as part of a simple midweek
dinner. While carrots are often celebrated for their health benefits, brimming with beta carotene, fibre, and essential vitamins, in this recipe they become the star attraction, transforming
into a truly indulgent feature on any plate. And for those sceptical about enjoying carrots in such a rich form? Tara assures: "You won't even know you're eating
vegetables," adding confidently, "They're that good." TV chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver also have their own take on the himble roasted carrot. Ramsay likes to mix
and serve his with parsnips, while adding a touch of cinnamon for depth. While his method requires a good few ingredients, they take just 20 minutes to cook and if you're not a parsnip
fan, simply swap them out for more carrots. Article continues below Meanwhile, Jamie's five ingredient recipe promises to make the "ultimate" roast carrots that are anything
but "ordinary". His twist incorporates a citrus fruit for a flavour elevation. Sharing the recipe on his website, Jamie said: “I’m going to show you an easy way to make ordinary,
nice carrots even more delicious – I’m talking outrageously tasty."
