Fire crews were battling a huge blaze as flames engulfed skies above a British city this morning (Tuesday). Residents in Hull, East Yorks., have been told to keep their windows and doors
closed after a 'large-scale' fire broke out at a recycling plant overnight. Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said seven crews were called to the blaze in the Stoneferry area of
the port city shortly after 1am on Tuesday. It is not known what caused the fire, which could be seen across the city, but fire crews confirmed there had been no injuries reported. A number
of road closures are in place and buses diverted as the fire rages on more than eight hours later. The fire service has scaled back its presence and three engines remain on site. Photos from
the scene show plumes of thick black smoke billow across the city's skyline overnight. Locals reported hearing "banging" and seeing a huge plume of smoke and fire in the sky
on social media. One man shared a photo from his bedroom window showing the night sky filled with smoke. He wrote: "Must be a huge fire in Hull this morning, I can hear banging and huge
fire." Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement just before 2.30am: "We are dealing with a large scale incident in the Stoneferry area of Hull. Please be advised to
avoid the area and keep windows closed. Thank you." A spokesman told The Daily Mirror just before 8am: "It's an ongoing incident. We had seven appliances there, now there are
just three. "Our aerial ladder platform is still up. There have been no injuries." Humberside Police urged people to avoid the area. The force said in a statement on social media:
"Due to an ongoing fire which is being dealt with by emergency services, there are some current road closures in place in Hull. "This is Stoneferry Road leading to Cleveland Street
and Stoneferry Road leading to Chamberlain Road. "Access to Foster Street is via the end of Cleveland Street. Please close all windows and doors if you live in the area. Please avoid
the area where possible." The fire is believed to have started at the MYgroup recycling plant in the east of the city, which is divided in two by the River Hull. The plant, just off
Stoneferry Road, is near other industrial units such as a builders merchant and a mechanics. _FOR THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS AND STORIES FROM ACROSS THE GLOBE FROM THE DAILY STAR, SIGN UP FOR
