Newly established distribution outfit Grasshopper Film has acquired all U.S. distribution rights to Portrait of a Garden. Directed by Rosie Stapel and produced by Daan van der Have, the
documentary follows two long time friends, 85 year-old pruning master and the gardener on a country estate, tracking one year in their lives as they tend to a historically significant
garden. The film premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and will open in the US theatrically this fall. The deal was negotiated by Ryan Krivoshey, Founder & President of Grasshopper Film,
with Rosie Stapel of Rose is a Rose Film. Other films in Grasshopper’s distribution slate include Asghar Farhadi’s Fireworks Wednesday, Hong Sangsoo’s Right Now, Wrong Then, and Natalie
Cristiani’s The Artefacta: Nicola Costantino.
Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired World-Wide rights to Restoration, a new supernatural thriller directed by Zack Ward and starring Emily O’Brien. The film tracks a couple who find a diary
hidden in the walls of their house during a restoration. Opening the book releases the child’s ghost, who haunts their dreams and waking life and urges them to find the child’s cause of
death and release its soul. The script is by Ward & James Cullen Bressack who also produce the film through their Grit Film Works. Kenneth Gust, Ace Underhill, Shant Jordan, and Shahen
Jordan produce alongside Bressack and Ward. Uncork’d Entertainment’s current releases include Krampus: The Reckoning, Forsaken, Shockwave Darkside and the upcoming theatrical release The
Haunting of Cawdor.
