Netflix has unveiled a first teaser for Alain Chabat’s 3D animated series _Asterix & Obelix: The Big Fight_, adapted from the seventh album in René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo iconic


comic series pitting “plucky Gauls” against the Romans. First published in 1964 under the title of ‘The Battle of the Chieftains’ (‘Le Combat des Chefs’), the tale sees Asterix and Obelix’s


village left vulnerable in the face of the Romans when potion master Getafix is hit on the head by a menhir and loses his memory. Without his know-how, the villagers no longer have access to


the magic potion which is the secret to their superiority on the battlefield. There is excitement about the new series in France due to actor and director Chabat’s involvement in the


project. WATCH ON DEADLINE His 2002 live action movie_ Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra _remains the most successful and locally beloved of all the Asterix & Obelix film and TV


adaptations to date, selling 14.4M tickets at home and another 10M internationally. Chabat has co-directed the new series with Fabrice Joubert, whose previous credits include _Minions_,


_Despicable Me 2_ and _The Lorax_. The adaptation and dialogue is written by Alain Chabat with Benoît Oullion and Piano. Les Editions Albert René holds the adaptation rights. Alain Goldman


lead produced, with TAT Productions, best known internationally for _The Jungle Bunch_ franchise, overseeing the animations The series will debut on Netflix in 2025. The streamer has not


given a precise release date but expectations are high in France that it will be early on in the year.
