CONTROVERSY In 2005, on obscene video of Riya and her then-boyfriend, actor Ashmit Patel, was leaked on the internet. The MMS video caused a huge scandal in Bollywood, forcing Riya and
Ashmit to seek legal recourse. The actors eventually broke up and Riya even accused Ashmit of leaking the video himself. The case was later settled. However, the video did damage Riya’s
career prospects. She was already considered a sex symbol due to her bold on-screen image and the scandal gave her unwanted negative publicity. Even though she continued to act, Riya did not
touch the heights of her early career again. RIYA SEN’ SUBSEQUENT CAREER Between 2006 and 2013, Riya worked in over 15 films in Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, and Odia. However, none of them were
major enough or successful at the box office. In 2016, she appeared in her final major films – Hero 420 and Dark Chocolate. The actress has not signed a film since. In 2022, her long-delayed
film Love You Hamesha was released belatedly. That remains her final release. She did move to the streaming platform, making her OTT debut with a cameo in Ragini MMS Returns in 2017. She
