Picture for representation The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) held the draw of lots to its much-awaited 2017 housing scheme on Thursday. The housing authority allotted 12,617 flats across


different income categories. The draw of lots was conducted for the 46,080 applications it had received for the houses on offer. With the draw concluded, the DDA is now planning to launch


the 2018 housing scheme offering around 20,000 flats between March and June next year. Of the total flats on offer, over 11,000 were LIG (low-income group) houses which were surrendered


during the 2014 housing scheme."The draw was conducted in a transparent manner in which 12, 617 flats were allotted from the 46,080 eligible applicants.  The allotment letters for the


winners will be handed over within a month. After this, the winners will get three months duration to pay the full amount. We will now focus on our next 2018 housing scheme for which 90%


construction has been completed," said J P Aggarwal, Housing Commissioner, DDA. The 20,000 new flats under the upcoming scheme are part of the urban body's plan to build 81,000


more flats in the Capital over the four years till 2021 under the Prime Minister's Residential Scheme. Besides, new in-situ rehabilitation projects are also in the works, added


Aggarwal. Of the total flats allotted --- 11,757 are LIG, 403 are MIG (middle-income group), 372 are Janta flats (one-bedroom), while 85 are HIG (high-income group) flats. TOTAL HOUSES

houses are spread across Rohini, Narela, Peetampura, Siraspur, Jasola and Paschim Vihar, among others. Nageshwar Rao, was the first winner of the lots, who was allotted an HIG flat in


Dwarka.
