Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, was found dead in his hotel room in Muscat, Oman on Friday April 20. His family have now released a statement implying the Swedish DJ took his own life. In

the message, his relatives said the superstar could “no longer go on” and wanted “peace”. In a statement translated from Swedish, Avicii’s relatives said: “Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a

fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. “An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. “When he stopped

touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music.” The family stated the DJ “struggled” throughout his life and was a “sensitive” person

who wasn’t comfortable being in the limelight. They continued in the statement which was released to Variety: “He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not

go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. “Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight. “Tim, you will

forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, your family.” According to the US publication, a Swedish speaking source said

the pre-translated speech “made the implication [of suicide] more overt”. Avicii’s parents and three siblings arrived in Oman last weekend, where the star had been on holiday, to return his

body to his native Sweden. Police in Oman recently confirmed they was no suspicious circumstances surrounding the Wake Me Up chart-topper’s death. A source in Oman’s police force told Sky

News two post-mortem examinations had been conducted. They added: "We absolutely confirm that there is no criminal suspicion of death.” Avicii had retired from performing live in 2016

after an intense few years touring and a battle with alcoholism. The worldwide DJ suffered from acute pancreatitis and also had his gallbladder and appendix removed in 2014. Before his shock

death, Avicii revealed he constantly consumed “free booze” such as Bloody Mary cocktails and wine as he toured the world. Speaking with a journalist who spent time with him for a GQ

magazine article in 2013, he said: “You are travelling around, you live in a suitcase, you get to this place, there's free alcohol everywhere, it's sort of weird if you don't

drink.” _FOR CONFIDENTIAL SUPPORT CALL THE SAMARITANS IN THE UK ON 116 123 OR VISIT A LOCAL SAMARITANS BRANCH._
