Premium Bonds are lottery bonds run by NS&I, otherwise known as the National Savings and Investment company. NS&I is backed by the government meaning any funds deposited into the
bank are 100 percent safe. For this reason, NS&I proves a popular option year on year with savers. The second lucky millionaire winner was announced to be a woman from South Scotland.
The woman’s winning bond number was 93XD777211, and she had a total of £10,000 invested into Premium Bonds. However, the bond which won it for her was worth £5,000, but was originally
purchased 17 years ago, back in March 2003. This may spark Britons who purchased Bonds a significant time ago to double check their holdings to see if they have won any prizes. NS&I has
said that the prize fund in September was worth a total of £110 million. And this month, 3.8 million prizes were handed out by the government-backed savings institution. However, aside from
the lucky millionaires, there were also other significant prizes up for grabs. Seven lucky people have won £100,000 in various parts of the country including Kent, Wandsworth,
Gloucestershire, Hereford and Wiltshire. One person even clinched £100,000 with a bond valued at only £50. And fourteen people won £50,000 this month, from all across the UK, and even one
lucky winner overseas. Hundreds of Bond holders will realise they have won a large sum of money this month. And fortunately, NS&I has made the process of checking a simple one. Logging
on to the official NS&I website, Britons can use the prize checker tool to see if they are a recipient of a prize. All they will be required to do is enter their holder’s number, and the
tool will do the rest of the work. And bond holders can also check to see if they have won through the NS&I app available on smartphones, or through the Amazon Alexa prize checker
function. Premium Bonds have been issued in the UK since 1956, predating the famous National Lottery draw. It is estimated approximately 21 million Britons own Premium Bonds, and because
this is a lottery bond, the more you buy, the greater your chances of winning.
