Limescale can often be found inside kettles, boilers, pipes and on taps and shower screens. The mineral deposit looks particularly unsightly on shower screens and shower doors where it can
make them look foggy and dirty. If limescale isn’t regularly cleaned, it can build up and become etched into the glass. Once limescale is permanent, it can be almost impossible to remove.
With this in mind, fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have shared their simple 80p hack for keeping limescale at bay with “minimal effort”. Mrs Hinch, whose full name is Sophie Hinchliffe,
is a cleaning and lifestyle influencer with more than 4.5 million followers on Instagram. Over the years, fans of hers have taken to social media to share their own cleaning tips and hacks
on cleaning groups. Some of the groups have hundreds of thousands of members and receive hundreds of comments each day. Facebook user Lizzie Hayzer posted on one social media group: “Any
tips for keeping a new shower door limescale-free?” The post was inundated with responses but the most common suggestion was to use a squeegee after every shower. READ MORE: GET RID OF FRUIT
FLIES IN A FEW HOURS WITH VINEGAR HACK 'WORKS WELL!' Noreen Renders wrote: “I squeegee after every use then dry with microfibre cloth. Been in 12 years and still clear.” Diana
Cruickshank said: “I squeegee every day and dry with a cloth, stays nice and clear.” Tracey Shaw agreed and wrote: “Squeegee after every shower and then once a week spray and clean with a
supermarket own-brand bathroom cleaner. “I’ve used Aldi, Lidl and Sainsbury’s. Stays sparkling and minimal effort. I usually do the clean while I’m showering.” Most households have a
squeegee but for those who don’t, they can be found in most local supermarkets or purchased online. READ MORE: ‘EFFECTIVE’ METHOD TO ‘BANISH’ WINDOW CONDENSATION AS WINTER LOOMS George Home
Squeegee costs just 80p from ASDA while a Tesco Squeegee costs £1. Wilko Window Wiper Grey costs £1 while The Range’s Kitchen Master Rose Gold Window Squeegee is £1.39. Other suggestions for
keeping limescale at bay included using a Karcher window vacuum, a Method daily shower spray, Viakal and Rain-X. Andrea Sands said: “Dry off the screen after each use - I use a Karcher
window cleaner to suck the water away. “Then use Viakal spray or gel to clean it when doing your bathroom - it’s magic stuff at getting rid of any limescale and glass/taps look incredible!”
Sandra Tippen suggested: “I shower every morning and I spray with shower and shine and once a week use Viakal. Rinse off and dry with an old towel.” Lisa Griffin commented: “I have been
looking to replace my shower cubicle and the guy in the showroom said that the fitters have found Rain-X from Halfords is what they use to keep the glass clean and clear.” Sarah Foster
wrote: “We had a new shower door fitted over a year ago and it still looks brand new. All we do is after each shower we use the window vacuum.” Liz Parkin replied: “While clean and new, give
it a coat of Rain-X (like they use in auto sales). Thereafter, wipe down after every use. You will never look back.” Sallie Ann Groves suggested: “Method Daily Shower is really good,
no-rinse and smells lovely.”
