The Duchess of Sussex told long-time friend of the Prince of Wales Patrick Holden that she believes US food production industry has become too “industrial”. The pair were discussing her
father-in-law’s passion for sustainable farming at the event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Investiture of the Prince of Wales. She told the campaigner for organic food she knows
the industry needs a “change.” According to the Mirror, Mr Holden said: “The Duchess is very well aware of how industrial US food systems have become and the need to make a change. “There
was a lot of conversation about how badly wrong the US food systems are and how we need to act. “She is pregnant, and obviously wants to make sure she is eating the right things, not just
for the health of the baby but also it’s mental health. “We are what we eat, and our mental health is connected with what we eat.” The event hosted all the senior royals, including the Duke
and Duchess of Sussex, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Queen. Mr Holden said he discussed the Prince of Wales’ project at Highgrove with Meghan. He said: “We talked about the
Prince of Wales’s leadership in the field of sustainable agriculture and how the farm at Highgrove is one of the most important exemplars of sustainable farming practice. “It’s an example of
the Prince’s vision made flesh.”
