The python's high-wire act over a quiet residential street prompted worried residents to call police. Officers said the Burmese python had escaped its tank and climbed out of an

upstairs window before slithering along the telephone wire in Anglesey, North Wales. The python, one of the five largest snakes in the world and capable of constricting an adult to death,

was pictured by Sergeant Rob Taylor. He said the snake made it across the wire to the opposite house and was halfway down the drainpipe before it was captured. Sgt Taylor said: “The vast

majority of people who own reptiles keep them in secure tanks but for those who don't this is a timely reminder to do so.”  In the wild, the Burmese python often lives near waterand is

a good climber that can be found in jungle treetops catching birds. Special care is required when handling them as a three-metre long Burmese python is capable of killing a child and a

five-metre long snake is capable of overpowering and killing a fully grown adult. The escaped python was returned safely to his owner with advice on keeping him secure.
