WHERE IS WHITE HOUSE FARM SET? White House Farm on ITV is set in the village of Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Essex, England in August 1985. Much of the part-factual drama centres around an Essex
farmhouse, known as White House Farm. The drama follows the true story of five members of the same family who were tragically murdered on the night of August 6 and early hours of August 7,
1985. The victims of the mass shooting were 24-year-old Sheila Caffell, her twin six-year-old sons Daniel and Nicholas, and her 61-year-old parents Nevill and June Bamber. The series will
provide fresh insight into the case and look at the contested accounts of the events that took place. White House farm is based on ‘The Murders at White House Farm’ by Carol Ann Lee,

Bamber’s trial took place, Chelmsford Crown Court. Mark Stanley who plays Colin Caffell in the drama explained: “It felt important to film in the same building at Chelmsford Crown Court
where the real trial took place. “It just added to the sense of truth about this drama. When you give evidence in the witness box or dock of a real court you’ll find many actors forget their
lines. “It has that impact on you, the pressure of it, I found all of that fascinating.” Director Paul Whittington explained to ITV he decided not to film at any other real locations “out
of respect”. Instead, much of the drama was filmed in and around Essex, England. According to Essex Live, scenes were filmed in a small village outside of Chelmsford, in particularly

acutely aware and sensitive to the fact we are portraying real life with real victims. Along with the responsibility that comes with that.” The director added: “The challenges for us
included the crime scene and to be absolutely exacting about how we dealt with that. “The crime scene in this story is vital to understanding the crime, the evidence and where the story
goes. “The house we used to depict the house at White House Farm was key. Firstly for its setting in rural Essex, its isolation and beauty.
