Manchester United have received a welcome injury boost as Marcus Rashford is spotted driving himself to training on Saturday morning. It is the first time the Red Devils frontman has been
seen behind the wheel since suffering a serious back injury. Rashford is currently sidelined after picking up a double stress fracture in his back, while he also has a floating bone in his
foot. The England international suffered his back injury after coming on as substitute during the FA Cup third-round replay against Wolves earlier this month. United manager Ole Gunnar
Solskjaer was heavily criticised for calling upon the 22-year-old, who was reportedly already struggling with fitness issues before the match. Reports have suggested that Rashford could miss
two months with the injuries, although the player himself has stressed he will play before the end of the season. JUST IN: Man Utd fans plan mass walkout in protest against Glazers and Ed
Woodward Solskjaer has refused to give any assurances over Rashford’s return date, although he did reveal it would be at least six weeks before he is fit enough to to start training again.
"Marcus is going to get as long as he needs,” said the Red Devils boss. “We are not going to risk him when he has had an injury. When he comes back he will be 100 per cent fit."
The Norwegian insists that Rashford was not suffering from a stress fracture prior to the Wolves game, and refutes allegations from former England striker Ian Wright that he put his own
needs before his player’s well-being. “We have to manage players every single day. There are loads of things Ian Wright, or anyone else, doesn't know about." Rashford has 19 goals
for United across all competitions so far this season, and the attacking burden will now fall upon team-mate Anthony Martial. However, the Frenchman was poor during a limp performance from
the whole team in midweek as United slipped to a shock 2-0 defeat against Burnley at Old Trafford. Mason Greenwood will therefore hope to earn more game time as he continues to enjoy a
breakthrough campaign, although Solskjaer has not ruled out new arrivals in January.
