Undertaker made history in 1990 with his debut at Survivor Series as he captivated the wrestling world with his dark, sinister and supernatural character that sent shivers down every fan’s
spine. The gimmick was created by WWE supremo McMahon who decided to cast someone who is big and had no in-ring personality at the time. Taker had just left WCW and hadn’t figured out his
character yet but Mr McMahon found a way to book him and made him a legend. Undertaker told pastor _Ed Young_: “He had the character. “He needed somebody big, with no personality.”
Undertaker wasn’t at all aware McMahon had such big plans for him and was initially afraid he would instead give him a whacky gimmick after his successful trial. WWE promoted a giant egg on
the top of the stage each week in 1989 and The Deadman feared that he would be involved in that angle and cast under a ludicrous gimmick, such as The Egg Man or Egg Head. The Phenom
immediately panicked once he got an awkward phone call from McMahon who was asking to speak to The Undertaker. However, the ex-WWE Champion decided to play along as he saw it as his only
salvation from his fears. Undertaker added: “Anyway, I’m kind of hanging out trying to get bookings where I can. “All of a sudden, it was WWF back then, they start this promotion where
they’ve got this giant egg on one of the stages. “And at that point, I had short hair and I had started growing my hair. I was thinking… An egg, right? “So, I started having this whole drama
in my head, like, ‘Oh man, I’m going to be Egg Man or something like that. He’s going to want me to shave my head and my eyebrows.’ “I’m just in a panic. This had nothing to do with me.
“So, I’m at home one day and the phone rings. Back then you know, you had to go pick it up. “I pick the phone up, ‘Hello, is this The Undertaker?’ “So, I put the phone down and I’m thinking
to myself, ‘Undertaker? Well, I sure ain’t Egg Man or Egg Head.’ “So, I put the phone back up and I said, ‘Yeah, yeah this is The Undertaker, yeah!’ “I had myself… I probably was on the
verge of an ulcer.” Undertaker is one of WrestleMania’s biggest attractions but his status ahead of this year’s Show of Shows is unknown.
