Leeds United dismissed Steve Evans earlier in the week. Former Leeds United boss Steve Evans has told Radio Yorkshire that the one word he would use to describe what it is like to work under
Massimo Cellino is ‘eventful’. Evans was dismissed as Leeds manager earlier this week, after months of speculation over his future. Leeds were actively looking for Evans’ replacement, even
while he was still in the job – and they had tried to appoint both Karl Robinson and Darrell Clark last month. However, Evans insists that he still had a good relationship with Cellino,
although he did admit that the Italian owner tested him at times. “The one word that I would say is ‘eventful’,” he said, when asked what it was like working with Cellino. “That’s what it’s
like. “I had a really good working relationship with the president. I can come out and speak truly and from the heart and say I had a good relationship. “We debated things many times, he has
an opinion, but it’s no different to Tony Stewart at Rotherham. “We had a solid relationship, but there were certain days when certain things happen that made it eventful.” MORE STEVE EVANS
STORIES Evans has earned a lot of credit for the diplomatic and gracious way that he has left Leeds, and Cellino’s treatment of the Scottish boss has been heavily criticised by fans of the
Yorkshire club. Leeds have now turned their attentions to appointing Evans’ successor, with Garry Monk reportedly edging closer to the job. Monk held talks with Leeds yesterday, and a deal
could reportedly be agreed to bring the former Swansea boss to Elland Road in the near future.
