Twitter is taking action against Steve Bannon after the former White House chief strategist made controversial comments on his podcast Thursday. During a Thursday episode of his_ War Room_
YouTube podcast, Bannon suggested that Dr. Anthony Fauci and FBI director Christopher Wray should be fired but things should also be taken “a step further.” “I’d actually like to go back to
the old times of Tudor England. I’d put the heads on pikes, right? I’d put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to Federal Bureaucrats: you either get with the program or
you’re gone. Time to stop playing games,” he said. Bannon also added that former acting director of national intelligence Ric Grenell should be made interim head of the FBI. “That’ll light
them up, right,” he said. Following his statements, Twitter suspended the _War Room_ account for glorifying violence. In a statement to _The Hollywood Reporter_ a Twitter spokesperson said,
“The @WarRoomPandemic account has been permanently suspended for violating the Twitter Rules, specifically our policy on the glorification of violence.” Twitter also added that it has
policies in place to address clear threats of violence, abuse and harassment, and hateful conduct. Should the rules be violated, Twitter would take enforcement action. YouTube has since
deleted the video. The suspension comes as Bannon awaits his May 2021 trial after being arrested and charged with with defrauding donors to help raise money for the construction of Trump’s
border wall with Mexico. Bannon has pleaded not guilty.
