Five people were arrested on suspicion of kidnaping a 19-year-old Mexican citizen in San Ysidro on Sunday afternoon and holding him for ransom, San Diego police said. Ramon Lachino of

Michoacan, Mexico, was kidnaped at Calle Primera and Via de San Ysidro at 1:08 p.m., police said. The kidnapers contacted Lachino’s family and demanded $300 for his return, a police

spokesman said. Officers monitored the area while relatives delivered the ransom at an undisclosed site. Police took four of the suspects into custody there. A fifth suspect escaped, but was

captured in Chula Vista later that day, the spokesman said. Lachino was released unharmed, he said. Taken into custody were Javier Gonzales, 30; Raul Campos, 26; Cecilia Albuthi, 34; Alma

Rojo, 27, and a 17-year-old boy, police said. They were being held in the Southern Division jail in San Ysidro, the spokesman said. He did not know their addresses, or that of the kidnaped

man’s relatives. MORE TO READ
