3, where he was charged with “driving while intoxicated a third time or more.” He had an open 16-ounce Coors beer in the center console when he was stopped by police, according to an
affidavit obtained by The Post. Mahomes Sr. told police he “had a few beers while watching a game at a local bar” when asked why he was drinking while driving, per the affidavit. The ex-Mets
pitcher is facing by up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for the third DWI, according to Texas law. His last DWI arrest came in 2019, according to jail records. Mahomes Sr. played
eleven years in the MLB, including two seasons with the Mets from 1999-2000, totaling a 4.74 ERA in Queens. At Super Bowl opening night, Mahomes was asked about his father’s arrest. “Yeah,
he’s doing good,” Mahomes said. “I haven’t — I don’t want to really get into it too much, but he’s doing good for whatever the situation is. It’s a family matter, so I’ll just keep it to the
family, and that’s all I really have to say at this point.” The younger Mahomes became the fifth quarterback ever to win three Super Bowls, joining Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw
and Troy Aikman after leading a touchdown drive in overtime.
