'absolutely massive' fire rips through industrial estate

Emergency services are at the scene of a large fire at an industrial estate in Rhymney. The incident started at around 11pm on Friday, January 24 at Capital Valley Eco Park and has prompted


a multi-agency response. Locals have been advised to keep their doors and windows shut and avoid entering the River Rhymney for their safety. The A469 is also shut in both directions in


Rhymney between B4257 Carno Street (Rhymney) and Heol Evan Wynne (Pontlottyn). Witnesses have described the fire as "absolutely massive". A spokesman for Gwent Police said:


"Emergency services are currently dealing with a fire on Capital Valley Eco Park, Rhymney. South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene. "If you live locally, please ensure


all doors and windows are closed. Diversions are in place to ensure your safety. Please find an alternative route for your journey." A spokesman for the fire service said: "Fire


crews are in attendance at a large fire at Capital Valley Eco Park, Rhymney. Residents are advised to close windows due to smoke and avoid the area until further notice." A Natural


Resources Wales spokesman said: "We're assisting [firefighters] with a fire at Capital Valley Eco Park, Rhymney. Please follow their advice, and avoid entering the River Rhymney
