though next season fans may get a spin-off as well. The network will air a 'planted pilot' for a spin-off series entitled All American: Homecoming following Geffri Maya's

character Simone Hicks, according to Deadline. The backdoor pilot will air as a regular episode later on in the third season, with All American showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll writing the

script. The show will be a 'young adult sports drama' set against the backdrop of a historically black college and university (HBCU). All American: Homecoming will follow, 'a

young tennis hopeful from Beverly Hills and an elite baseball player from Chicago.' RELATED ARTICLES They will both deal with the high stakes of their college sports programs while also

navigating the social scene at the school as they strike out on their own. Maya's character Simone Hicks debuted in the second season of All American, who was involved with Jordan

American will be featured. Carroll will write the pilot script and also executive produce the spin-off with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden and Robbie Rogers. Michael Schultz,

who has directed numerous episodes of All American and The CW's superhero series Black Lightning, is set to direct the backdoor pilot. There is no indication as to when the episode will

air, but it's the third 'planted pilot' that The CW has set up for the forthcoming TV season. They also ordered a Nancy Drew spin-off entitled Tom Swift, starring Tian

Richards, and a Black Lightning spin-off Painkiller, starring Jordan Calloway. Both Maya and Carroll responded to the news on Twitter, with Carroll stating, 'So incredibly excited and
