Queen Elizabeth II has dedicated most of her adult life to the crown. She ascended the throne following her father’s death on February 6, 1952. She was just 25 when she became Queen, a role

which she still holds today at the age of 93. Despite the hundreds of royal outings, she must still make, the Queen shows no sign of retiring from royal duty.  While dedicated husband Prince

Philip stepped back from public life in 2017, aged 96, the Queen continues to carry out her duties with as much dedication as ever. Without The Duke of Edinburgh at her side, the Queen

continues her packed schedule of public engagements and has even been seen to still plant the odd ceremonial tree. The Queen has been on the throne for a staggering 67 years and in 2015 she

broke an impressive record-making royal history. READ MORE: Meghan Markle vs Princess Diana: Why Meghan needs to learn from Diana Queen Elizabeth is now the longest-reigning monarch in

British history. She claimed the title from her great-great-grandmother Queen Victoria in 2015 when, at the age of 89, Queen Elizabeth had been on the throne for 23,226 days - surpassing

Queen Victoria’s record. In a speech to mark the spectacular milestone, the Queen thanked well-wishers. READ MORE:Meghan Markle had to pass ‘stringent exam’ when joining Royal Family She

said: “Inevitably a long life can pass by many milestones - my own is no exception - but I thank you all and the many others at home and overseas for your touching messages of great

kindness.” At the time then Prime Minister David Cameron described the Queen as a “rock of stability” and said her reign had been the “golden thread running through three post-war

generations”. While the Queen could choose to abdicate in old age, royal insiders have claimed it is something she has vowed to never do. The crown will likely only pass on following Queen

Elizabeth’s death. The line of succession means that her first son Prince Charles will ascend the throne after Queen Elizabeth II and then Prince William after him. When Prince Charles

ascends the throne his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will be given the title of Queen Consort. The Queen is currently at her Scottish estate, Balmoral where she was recently joined by

Prince Charles and Camilla for the annual Highland Games. The monarch is expected to return to London in October.
